The Skeleton Lady by Tori L. Wilson - Book Review & Giveaway

Amazon USA Amazon UK Goodreads
Review by Anniek

Kayte and Oliver are on their way home from school when they're kidnapped. Their kidnapper is named the Skeleton Lady. She expects complete obedience and they need to address her with mom. The skeleton lady changes the names of the children and performs surgeries on them to change their appearance. Kayte and Oliver are separated from each other and slowly their old lives fade away into the background. What will happen when they meet each other again after months in solitary?

The Skeleton Lady had kidnapped two girls before, Button and Sally. The Skeleton Lady is very thin with a tiny waist. All her victims need to wear corsets to adjust their bodies just like hers. Button and Sally now help her when she's giving out brutal punishments and they are even not unaccustomed to murder. Kayte and Oliver have no idea where they are or whether it's possible to escape. Do they remember the love they once felt for each other and can they come out of this nightmare alive?

Oliver his appearance has gotten closer to the Skeleton Lady since he's been kidnapped. His body is still covered in bruises however when he looks in the mirror he doesn't recognize himself anymore. All he thinks about is escaping but this is difficult as the Skeleton Lady injected something in his eyes in order to make them bright red just like hers. His life outside the house will be hard and he'll need to make sacrifices. Kayte and Oliver want to get away, but instead of being able to fight the Skeleton Lady they unfortionately fall for all her tricks. Both of them have to endure so much but they keep going and I always love stories with strong characters. I was anxious to find out if they'd ever find a way to escape.

The Skeleton Lady is a horrific story about maintaining your humanity and keeping your memories even when you're tortured every day. This story is heart-stoppingly frightening and I was surprised many times with unexpected twists and turns. Tori L. Wilson is a true artist and she has great imagination which comes to life incredibly well. The Skeleton Lady is the first book by her that I've read and I'll definitely going to read more of her books.
