Cowboy Honor by Carolyn Brown - Book Review & Giveaway

Amazon USA Amazon UK Goodreads Bookdepository
Review by Suze

When Claire and her little niece Zaylie have an accident because of bad weather, their car is wrecked and they have to find shelter. They end up in a cabin that belongs to a ranch. Claire doesn’t count on having company, but when Levi, one of the employees of the ranch, also needs the place to survive the unexpected early cold she doesn’t have a choice. Levi makes her realize that her situation is trickier than she thought and Claire will have to make use of the hospitality of people she doesn’t know, so she and Zaylie will survive. Is the always independent Claire ready to start leaning on others for a change?

Zaylie feels completely at home at Longhorn Ranch. She loves the animals and never wants to leave the place. Fortunately the weather doesn’t permit any traffic from and to the ranch, so her aunt Claire has to accept a short stay. She’s there to save the day when unexpected issues arrive, so she does feel useful while being a guest, which is exactly what she needs to be at ease with her newfound friends. Meanwhile her relationship with Levi develops. He’s never been in love before, but his heart recognizes a good thing straight away. Will the strong and handsome Levi and the smart, capable and creative Claire find happiness together?

Cowboy Honor is a wonderful romantic story. I absolutely loved Claire. She’s incredibly loyal, sweet, clever and skilled. I liked her spiky side as well. It’s a great combination with the serious parts of her personality and this makes her character complete and well balanced. Levi is caring, good looking and kind, but he also feels like he doesn’t have much to offer, I kept hoping he’d find his confidence so he’d see what a great catch he is, this kept me glued to the pages. Claire and Levi are made for each other and with a little help from the delightful Zaylie sparks keep flying, which gave me the terrific gift of many hours of fabulous reading.

Carolyn Brown makes every generation she writes about shine. I love that about her books. Zaylie is the life of Cowboy Honor, she’s a true gem. I loved her sparkly personality and this gives the romance of the story an extra dimension that makes it truly amazing. I was completely captivated by Cowboy Honor, it’s such an endearing story. I liked the energy, the friendly atmosphere of the ranch, the heartwarming main characters and the adorable animals a lot. I highly recommend Carolyn Brown’s stories, they’re all brilliant and Cowboy Honor is another gorgeous treasure waiting to be uncovered.

Advice

If you love countryside romance you don’t want to miss Cowboy Honor. It’s the second book in the Longhorn Canyon series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone.

About Carolyn Brown

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Carolyn Brown was born in Texas and raised in southern Oklahoma. These days she and her husband make their home in Davis, Oklahoma, a small town of less than three thousand people where everyone knows everyone, knows what they are doing and with whom, and read the weekly newspaper to see who got caught.

A plaque hangs on her office wall that says I know the voices are not real but they have such great ideas. That is her motto and muse as she goes through the days with quirky characters in her head, telling their stories, one by one, and loving her job.

She has been married almost half a century to a retired English teacher that she calls Mr. B and he does not read her books before they are published because she cannot afford a divorce. They have three grown children.—and enough grandchildren to keep them busy and young.

When Carolyn is not writing she likes to sit in the back yard and watch the two tom cats protect the yard from all kinds of wicked varmints like crickets, other cats, spiders and blue jays.
