To Kiss a Thief by Susanna Craig - Book Review & Giveaway

Amazon USA Amazon UK Goodreads Bookdepository
Review by Suze

Sarah truly loved her husband St. John, but the viscount broke her heart. They didn’t even have the chance to dance together as husband and wife before a scandal destroyed their brief marriage. Sarah fled and St. John was left behind with plenty of anger and even more questions. He thinks Sarah has stolen a precious family heirloom and will do anything to find it. When he finally locates her after several years he’s surprised he finds her in a small village without any wealth, working for a living. Where is the jewel he so desperately wants to get back?

St. John never had the chance to get to know Sarah. Their marriage was arranged and he doesn’t trust his wife after everything he heard about her. Sarah’s disappearance broke many people’s hearts and he wants her to pay for what she’s done. However, when he finds her and spends time with her, her behavior confuses him. Sarah gives full openness, while he expected her to be secretive. She is living a simple life, especially for a woman who’s supposed to have means, and she’s trying to help others whenever she can. Is this wonderful person really the woman who robbed him?

To Kiss a Thief is a fantastic intriguing story with fascinating main characters. Sarah is strong, capable and smart. I loved how much she cares about other people. She will do anything to help and to be there for her loved ones. She’s loyal, sweet and genuine, but she’s also the suspect of a terrible crime. I loved this contrast and couldn’t wait to find out the truth behind the theft. This kept me on the edge of my seat, I couldn’t turn the pages quickly enough and was eager to discover more. It was fun to figure out what happened together with St. John. At first he’s grumpy and distant, but he slowly defrosts and I liked his multilayered personality a lot. I was curious to find out if love would conquer even the most complicated situations and adored the chosen theme for the story.

Susanna Craig has a gorgeous mesmerizing writing style. I loved how she makes the era she’s chosen for her story come to life. I could easily picture the rules, the obligations, the social inequalities and the manipulations she writes about. I also admired the way she describes her surroundings, she makes them come to life in a terrific vibrant way. The result is a gripping and complete story filled with surprises. To Kiss a Thief is entertaining, romantic and incredibly interesting. I absolutely loved this swoon worthy story.

If you love historical romance, you don’t want to miss To Kiss a Thief.

About Susanna Craig

A love affair with historical romances led Susanna Craig to a degree (okay, three degrees) in literature and a career as an English professor. When she’s not teaching or writing academic essays about Jane Austen and her contemporaries, she enjoys putting her fascination with words and knowledge of the period to better use: writing Regency-era romances she hopes readers will find both smart and sexy. She makes her home among the rolling hills of Kentucky horse country, along with her historian husband, their unstoppable little girl, and a genuinely grumpy cat.
