Hot Mess: Lucy Davenport: Season One, Episode One by Kelly Moore & Shannyn Leah - Book Review & Giveaway

Amazon USA Amazon UK Goodreads
Review by Anniek

Lucy thinks she's seen it all living with a crazy family, until the day her in-laws decide she should marry again. They think that their son Cash is the perfect candidate. Cash promised his brother that if something would happen to him, he'd take care of Lucy and he's more than willing to become her new husband. The only thing Lucy's in-laws are after is her house and all of the other belongings Lucy gained when she married her late husband Mark. Lucy and her family are prepared to do anything to keep that from happening. What will it take to make her in-laws back off?

Since Mark died the family is discovering some of the secrets he kept. The comic store she inherited from him seems to be a more than just a store where people can buy comic books. Lucy also has a new friend, someone who stirs up long lost feelings inside of her. Yaya, Lucy's mother and grandmother of Lucy’s daughter Beth, has rented out her pool house and the tenants are an interesting couple. They fit in perfectly with the madness of The Davenports. Every day is full of surprises. Does Beth's imaginary friend, Frankie, have a few tricks up his sleeve to complete the chaos?

Lucy loved her husband Mark very much and his death shattered her. Slowly Lucy comes out of the fog she constantly felt she was going through while grieving for her lost husband and decides she needs to pick herself up again to prevent her family from falling apart. Lucy is feisty and is really good at solving problems. She's had a lifetime of experiences, which helps a lot and gives her plenty of useful skills. Lucy is now the head of the house and I loved to get to know more about this interesting woman. Lucy is such a great person and I was rooting for her to outsmart her in-laws.

Hot Mess: Lucy Davenport: Season One, Episode One is another hilarious story about the family I just can't help but love. If this series would be a television show I'd also be hooked from the start. I can't help but creating mental images of the scenes and this causes many laugh out loud moments. I found it hard to put this book down, so I kept reading whenever and whenever I could. There might have been some people who probably thought I had my own imaginary friend since I couldn't prevent laughing really hard. Ever since Dare To Enter: The Crazy Rich Davenports: Season One: Series Pilot I'm hooked on Kelly Moore's and Shannyn Leah's way of writing and their truly dysfunctional family and I can't wait to start reading the next episode, The Loon: Yaya: Season One Episode Two.

Advice

If you like to read books that make you laugh out loud Hot Mess: Lucy Davenport: Season One, Episode One would be a perfect choice. Please keep in mind that the books in this series can't be read as standalones and to fully understand the madness you have to read them in chronological order.

About Kelly Moore

Hi my name is Kelly Moore and I am Southern girl raised in Florida. I am a registered nurse actually an ICU traveling nurse, wife, mother of two children and I have three grandchildren. I have always been an avid reader and kept journals. Until Broken Pieces, I never had the courage to attempt an erotic romance book and submit it for publishing. I tend to embrace the brokenness in all of us. It makes us who we are. I love to see people come out strong and win against past pains.

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing the story.

About Shannyn Leah

Contemporary romance author Shannyn Leah loves olives, lip gloss and reading (and writing) romance novels. Her love of words started at an early age and soon grew until, during her teenage years, she’d started writing her own novels. When her mom pushed to finally publish some of the stories, she quickly amassed two complete romance series (By The Lake and Caliendo Resort series) and, in 2016, released her first Fantasy Romance entitled The Gatekeepers (Part One of the Winters Rising series). In 2017, she released her first BAD BOY Romance.

When she's not writing contemporary romance books into the early hours of the morning, Shannyn can be found antiquing with her two favorite people, her momma and sister, in their picturesque London, Ontario hometown.

Shannyn would love to get to know her readers as you get to know her (just don’t send her any carrots!)

Shannyn also writes under her sweet & clean name Audrey Delaine.
