Dead Silence by K.G. Reuss - Book Review & Giveaway

Amazon USA Amazon UK Goodreads

Review by Anniek

Everly, or Ever for short, has always been able to see ghosts and other horrible creatures that want to harm her. The only person who saved her numerous times is a black shadow with red eyes. Ever's father was an alcoholic and he abused her and her mother. After her mother found the strength to leave her father Ever's sightings settled down a bit, but now the voices have become more urgent again and are trying to force Ever to listen to them. They're not above using violence and Ever fears that this time they won't go away so easily. Can Ever find a way to deal with them before she gets hurt?

Ever broke up with her boyfriend after she found him cheating on her. He keeps apologizing and wants to win Ever back, but she isn't willing to give him a second chance. When Ever and her best friend Nina go to a party, her ex-boyfriend is very drunk. Ever decides to give him a ride home. They get into a heated argument and when Ever gets out of the car she's hit by an SUV. Ever is badly hurt and will not survive the crash. This is, until Shadow gives her a choice. Will Ever choose life even though it will never be the same again?

Ever had to deal with so much when her father was still around. She and her mother came out on top, but the scars remain. Ever and her mom are incredibly close and I always love to read stories with strong family bonds. The things that Ever is hearing and seeing are beyond frightening and will bring any person to their knees. I admired her for her strength and courage to deal with what's happening instead of running away. The people around her think she's losing her mind and Ever gets to the point that she stops caring. My heart went out to her and was hoping that she would get the help she needs to survive.

Dead Silence is a chilling story about terrifying encounters with the afterlife. K.G. Reuss has a vivid imagination and I was intrigued by the dark and dangerous creatures she writes about. Dead Silence is the first book I've read by K.G. Reuss and she got me hooked on her addictive way of telling a story. I can't wait to read the next book in The Everlasting Chronicles, Shadow Song. Dead Silence kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I really loved this blood-curdlingly scary story, it made my heart skip a beat.

If you like to read bone-chilling scary stories, Dead Silence is an absolute must-read.

About K.G. Reuss

I grew up on a farm in the index knuckle of Michigan. Surrounded by beautiful lakes and copious amounts of trees, my life was everything one would imagine small town life to be.

I opted to attend college in Iowa before returning home to be closer to my family.

I currently reside in Michigan with my husband, three children, two cats and my Chipoo named Chewy. When I'm not fully immersed in my newest book, I can be found working in emergency medicine.
