Crashing Into You by Juliana Stevens - Book Review & Giveaway

Review by Suze

Paragons are immortals who help mortals when they struggle with their feelings. Each Paragon is specialized in their own single emotion. Denise definitely needs help finding love again. She's a widow and can't seem to move on from her grief. After four years she still misses her husband every minute of the day and she can't make herself feel better. When she meets the gorgeous Alex she isn't interested at first, but Alex is the son of one of her best customers at Denise's workplace, a lovely bookshop, and she regularly bumps into him. Will she be willing to give love another chance once she gets to know him with a little help from the Paragons?

Alex's best friend and ex-girlfriend have broken his heart. He's staying with his mother to recover and think about his future. When he meets Denise he feels instant attraction, but Alex is still hurt and his feelings are raw. Whenever he approaches Denise she withdraws, but with a little persistency she slowly starts letting Alex in. Do these two wounded people have a chance when the Paragons interfere to make their lives a little better than they used to be?

Crashing Into You is a beautiful romantic story. Denise is struggling. She tries to get through her days and is just existing, while she's still young and should be living. She experienced something traumatic and her loss makes it impossible for her to embrace the good again. Alex has plenty of baggage himself, so he isn't sure he can handle Denise's brokenness, but he also can't seem to stay away from her. They are in a difficult situation, but with some much needed assistance I was desperately hoping they'd be able to find happiness again. This kept me glued to the pages.

Juliana Stevens has written another fascinating love story. I like that she combines fantasy with regular romance and the way she does this feels completely natural. The idea that the Paragons are looking after mortals who need their help is comforting and I enjoyed reading about their work, their lives and their own complex situations. Every emotion Juliana Stevens writes is deep and well described and the result is a gorgeous romantic story that I really enjoyed reading.

If you love a combination of fantasy and romance the Paragon Series would be an excellent choice. When it comes to the romance the books can be read as standalones, but if you want to have all the details about the Paragons you should start with the first book and read the stories in their correct order.
