Book Review - Let's Talk About Love by Claire Kann

Amazon USA Amazon UK Goodreads Bookdepository

Review by Suze

Alice loves working at the library, which is the only thing that's right in her life at the moment. Her girlfriend leaves her when Alice tells her she's asexual, her two best friends are very much in love and are regularly ditching her to be together and her parents are pushing her to study law, which is something that clashes with Alice's creative personality. She can definitely use some cheering up and when she meets Takumi at the library things are finally looking brighter again. He's cute, kind and he can cook, plus he loves spending time with Alice.

Alice has feelings for Takumi she can't quite explain. The last thing she's looking for is another relationship with someone who doesn't understand her. She's afraid her heart will be broken once more and when it comes to Takumi this isn't something she'd be able to deal with. That's why friendship seems to be the logical step to take. However, while spending more time together their bond slowly develops. What will happen when Takumi finds out about Alice's feelings, will he shatter her or can they overcome any difficulties that might arise?

Let's Talk About Love is a brilliant story about growing up, self-confidence and being true to yourself. Alice is smart, talented and funny. She's a wonderful friend, she's pretty and she's great company. She has a lot to offer, but she struggles with expectations others are having of her. Claire Kann describes her problems in a terrific way. She lets her readers come really close to Alice's emotions and that makes the story incredible to read. She makes it easy to understand everything Alice is going through and perfectly describes each obstacle she has to overcome. The result is a fantastic moving story.

Claire Kann's writing is honest, captivating and fabulously paced. She perfectly balances depth with lightheartedness. She's completely in control of her story, her main characters are adorable and I was fascinated by both the friendship and romance aspect of Let's Talk About Love. I love that the book is both impressive and a true joy to read. Claire Kann has written an outstanding endearing must-read with many amazing layers.

  9. Wow,this sounds like a very intense book. And being asexual is an issue that not many ya books deal with so I really want to read it! But I have to admit that the title is so cheesy!
