  1. I don't often read romance but historical romance, based on factual information, is a different matter. I used to read an awful lot of Jean Plaidy's work (real name Eleanor Hibbert), especially those based on the Tudor period as it's my favourite historical period.

  2. I love Jane Austen's books, I guess because they're smart, tend to have a little humor in them, and I just think the era is ideal for slow burn romance, the characters feeling so much but the constraints of society holding them back.

  4. Anything by Jeannie Lin. She writes books similar to Regency romances, except it’s set in Tang Dynasty China. I’ve read four of her books so far, and all of them are virtually flawless in historical detail. Most of them centre around courtesans. My two favourites, The Lotus Palace and The Jade Temptress, involve murder mysteries.

  14. I love any historical romance, but something set in the early medieval period, or even the early time after the collapse of the western roman empire, as these are times there is little historical knowledge about and the author can be more inventive and imaginative xx
