Announcement and Interview - Get To Know Anniek and Suze & Giveaway

We've given With Love for Books a makeover. Our look has changed and has been especially designed for us by Rustic Melody. We've also made a few changes. You can now sign up for two weekly newsletters that will inform you about giveaways and book reviews. We also made two request forms. One is to make review requests for authors as easy as possible. The other is something we've had on our wish list for quite a while already. Each month we check the most anticipated book answers from the new release hops and try to feature as many of those books as we can. We want to know what our readers like to see on our blog and therefore have created another form. In the tips and ideas section everyone can request a book review, interview or guest post. When we receive a request we'll do our best to make it possible. We want to make With Love for Books a great place for our readers and hope that this way we can bring you even more books that you absolutely don't want to miss.

It's time again to answer some interview questions. This way you have a chance to get to know us a little better. These questions have all been asked by readers, which is something we really enjoy. Thank you all for taking the time to come up with this lovely interview.

1) If you could invite any author to dinner, who would you choose?

Anniek: Oh I would love to chat with so many authors and could probably fill every weekend until the end of this year with all the people I'd love to meet. On the top of my list is my all time favorite author, Stephen King. I have every book he has ever written and I would be honored to talk to him and ask him anything and everything.

Suze: That's a tough one as there are so many, there wouldn't be enough days in the year to achieve this. I would love to meet my author friends Wendy Lou Jones, Linn B. Halton and Krysten Lindsay Hager for example. Their messages always make me smile and I know it will be fun to have dinner together.

2) How do you keep up with your desire to read and do other things in your life too?

Anniek: Having two young kids and a part time job keep me pretty busy. All the things that come with being a mum and a wife are important to me, but I'll always make time for reading and blogging. I just read the funniest quote the other day, it said: To Read or Not To Read, What a Stupid Question. This made me laugh out loud because when the kids are off to bed, I love to grab a cup of delicious smelling tea and a good book to relax.

Suze: My husband loves to read as much as I do, so we often read together. Or I sit next to him while reading an eBook when he's watching television. I need to rest a lot, so have plenty of time for books, which is why I read so much.

3) Do you have a phobia? If so, what is it?

Anniek: Oooohhh it's spiders! I absolutely hate them. When I go to Suze's house she always checks if there are no spiders outside, so I can safely enter her house. Her previous garden was filled with these scary creatures and she always took them elsewhere for me.

Once I was home alone and a big black spider walked towards me on the floor, I was petrified. I rushed to my front door and I literally asked a couple who were walking down the street to take that spider out of my house.

Suze: Wasps. I'm allergic to them, so have to be careful around these mean and scary creatures. I usually spray myself with something that repels them, which makes me feel a lot less afraid. I'm not easily scared, but wasps are giving me nightmares.

4) Who is your favourite Harry Potter character?

Anniek: I absolutely love Hagrid. He's such a gentle and sweet man. I love his humor and his love for animals is endearing.

Suze: Professor Snape because of his multilayered personality and the mystery around his actions. I especially loved that he appears to be mean, but is actually a loving man willing to sacrifice everything for the greater good.

5) What is you favorite hobby when not reading?

Anniek: I'm a big addict of TV-series, I can't help myself. My favorite series are: The Walking Dead, IZombie, Scream, Suits, Orange is the New Black, Pretty Little Liars, The Good Witch and Love Island. I recently watched the first episode of The Exorcist. I loved the movie, so I thought let's give the series a chance as well. The first episode had me so scared that I'm not sure I'll be able to get back to watching the rest.

Suze: I have many passions. Being outside in the forest with my husband is wonderful. I also love sending happy mail to loved ones, friends and strangers, I like delicious gourmet food and I'm a big fan of unusual vintage jewelry.

6) Are you attracted to book covers?

Anniek: Oh yes I absolutely am. I think that a good looking book cover is something that's very important. It's the first thing that people see even before reading the blurb or anything about the story itself. I know the saying is never judge a book by its cover, but a stunning or intriguing cover will pull me in to look at the rest.

Suze: Yes I am. I love art in any form and book covers are part of that. A beautiful cover is an extra gift, you get a fantastic story and something wonderful to look at, two for the price of one. I think a cover also shows pride in a story, which is never a bad thing. I can look at gorgeous covers for hours and applaud all the artists who are working so hard to make them.

7) What kind of music do you like to listen to?

Anniek: I love all kinds of music. It depends on my mood most of the time. I listen to the charts, but also to country, reggae, motown, R&B, rock and classics.

Suze: Music that makes me cheerful. I love a good uptempo song. For me music is all about energy, if it has a good vibe and beautiful execution I'm happy.

8) Do you have a favorite mug to drink your tea/coffee from during reading?

Anniek: My cupboard is filled with all kinds of mugs, but I do find myself taking the same ones regularly. I have different ones for coffee and tea. The one thing all of my mugs have in common is that I love big mugs.

Suze: I love anything cute, so if it's pink, adorable and sweet it's perfect. It makes me cheerful to drink from something that makes me smile.

9) Which genre you prefer the most?

Anniek: I love to read zombie stories. I can't stop myself when I find new ones to read. I also love to read romance and fantasy.

Suze: I love magical realism, because I like the idea of magic making our world just a little bit better, nicer and more special. Whenever I find a great book in this genre it feels like a real treat. I also love regency romance, fairytales and urban fantasy. Anything with a good story will do actually.

10) If you could tell your younger self anything, what would it be?

Anniek: Dream Big! Never let anyone stop you to get where you'd like to be. Be positive, stay kind and treat others the way you'd like to be treated yourself. There's actually a song that I'd like my younger self to listen to. It's Close Your Eyes by Meghan Trainor. She sings: 'Everybody's born to be different. That's the one thing that makes us the same'. This song always puts things in perspective for me.

Suze: Listen to your heart and do what feels right. It took me a while to find out what I really loved doing and time is precious. Something I'd want my younger self to be aware of is that what determines if you're a good person isn't what you do for a living, but who you are inside. Your actions and the way you treat and love others are more important than anything in the world. I'd also teach myself to be kinder for me, I'd teach the younger me to love herself, not to put too much pressure on herself and stand up for herself when she needs it.
