Personal Post - Birthday Celebrations by Anniek

Birthday Celebrations
By Anniek

I was born on this day, 37 years ago. It's always a bit weird having your birthday between the festivities of the holidays, but after all of the years I've already celebrated my birthday this way I'm used to it. My family and friends always make me feel loved on my special day. I feel so much warmth when I open my presents and see with how much care they were chosen for me.

On my birthday I also look ahead to the upcoming year. Just like most people I have New Year's resolutions and this year I have the same one as many times before. I also added a few new ones and I keep dreaming up others every single day. Some of my goals for 2018 are: writing the stories down which are floating around in my head, staying organized, losing the weight I gained through my pregnancies, making an effort to be kind to people I don't know and to keep finding the positives things in life.

Suze and I never had any doubt in our minds that we wanted to keep With Love for Books a positive only blog. I love to work from positive thoughts. Every author puts in a lot of time, effort and passion into writing their book and even though it may happen that a story is not for us it doesn't mean it's a bad story. We keep these things in mind with everything we do. Being a positive person in general makes your everyday life so much easier. When I give people a smile or say a friendly word it always shows how much it affects the other. I love it when that happens. Suze has set up an amazing Happy Mail Project and I know that her kindness and big heart bring many smiles around the world. One of my goals is to follow in her footsteps and help her more often to bring a smile to someone I don't know.

When I think about the New Year I get butterflies in my stomach. I believe that 2018 will be the best year ever. A year where dreams will become reality and where I'll be going on journeys to beautiful places and magical worlds created by all of you amazing authors. A year with lots of love, happiness and newfound friends. I hope that your year will be amazing and that you all achieve everything you've set your mind to.

  1. The only sort of birthday tradition I have is that every birthday and Christmas I get given a huge jar of pickled onions by my sister. Even instead of a chocolate Easter egg! I do love pickles, even drink the vinegar out of the jar! Have a wonderful day!

  3. Happy Birthday! (aww, that balloon is so cute)
I don't celebrate birthdays, or anything really, I'm not much for traditions and being the center of attention makes me very uncomfortable so I try to make it be just another day.

I don't do much for my own birthday, it's just another day. But when my boyfriend and I were together, I used to bake him a birthday cake, decorated with candles!

  23. Happy Birthday :) I don't really have a birthday tradition. When I was younger, my parents would always let us choose what restaurant we wanted to go to, to eat out at, for our birthday, and that was the tradition :)

  33. If the 29th was your bday you share it with my son and my baby sister. Mine was the 31st, quite the horrible time of year to have to try to celebrate. When I still young, my dad would buy me my drivers licence (The cost is $25/yr here) so that I would be able to come visit AND leave!!! I used to do the same thing for my kids until they both moved out of province.

  42. I don't have a birthday tradition. My birthday is three weeks before Christmas and, by the time it was my birthday, I was already excited about Christmas. I was always jealous of my schoolfriends who had summer birthdays; their excitement was portioned out throughout the year!

My birthday tradition is either a day to the coast if work permits, or a Chinese for tea and then the coast as near to my birthday as we can if work gets in the way on the day.
