I Wish For You by Camilla Isley - Book Review & Giveaway

Amazon USA Amazon UK Goodreads

Review by Anniek

Ally is expecting her relationship with James to go to the next level. Instead of that James breaks up with her for no apparent reason. Ally is heartbroken and is willing to do anything to make James love her again. When James moves on into another relationship that is progressing very fast into a marriage, Ally finds herself desperate for a solution. His fiancée is also a coworker of her and isn't likable person at all. When Ally finally opens her eyes to see reality will it be too late?

On one morning Ally goes to a flea market with her mother and it is there that she finds a beautiful box. Without her even knowing it the box ends up in her home. Soon Ally learns about Arthur, the genie in the box. Arthur has been cursed centuries ago and is placed in the box to spend eternity fulfilling other people's wishes. Ally gets five wishes. There is one catch, these wishes have to include herself. Now she has everything she needs to get James back, but will she see the love that is right in front of her?

Ally is convinced that James is the love of her life. She’ll try anything to make him come back to her. I laughed so many times when I read about the way how Ally uses her wishes. She’s pulling pranks and these were hilarious. Ally is someone who is living her life with her heart. She’s an emotional person and this shows in every decisions she makes. Ally has a warm personality and I instantly liked her and loved reading about her adventures.

I Wish For You gives you the ultimate love story. Who doesn't want five wishes and a gorgeous gentleman? Camilla Isley’s stories always contain a lot of humor. In I Wish For You she has found the perfect balance between the modern day Ally and the old fashioned Arthur. I loved how they slowly grow closer and that a solid foundation is being built first, with them becoming good friends. Camilla Isley always succeeds in getting me hooked from the very first page. I really enjoyed being enchanted by this charming story.

I Wish For You is a hilarious, feel-good read. It's perfect for readers who love stories about finding soul mates and old curses. I highly recommend any book written by Camilla Isley.

I Wish For You is free on Amazon until April 12th.

I listened to I Wish For You through the audio version of this book. Normally I read the stories ‘out loud’ inside my head and in the beginning I had to get used to the fact that someone else was doing this for me. I Wish For You was my first audiobook. I listened to the story any chance I had. In my car, while I was walking my dog and even when I was doing the necessary house chores. After finishing I Wish For You I’m completely convinced that audiobooks have plenty of positive qualities and they make any mundane activity a lot more fun.

My five wishes

I found myself thinking about what would I do if I had five wishes. Of course I was thinking of wishes within the rules that are set in I Wish for You. Because they have to include myself this is what I have come up with:

1. I wish to be kind and loving to everyone I come into contact with and hope that these people take over my behavior and pass it on to the people they meet and so on. If I cannot wish for world peace I think that the world will become a better place this way even though it might go a bit slower.

2. I wish to be rich and stay rich no matter how much money I spend, so I can share it with those who need it the most. I can't stand the fact that there are people and children in the world who are hungry or dying because of having no food or water. No person should be homeless or begging for money to get through the day. If I think of the huge amount of money that soccer players and actors make I can't understand why this problem is not solved yet.

3. I wish to have the ability to heal myself of sickness and injuries and being able to heal others too if they are near me.

4. I wish to be slim no matter what. Now I can't even look at a glass of water without gaining weight, so this would be a great solution.

5. I wish to be a successful writer and publisher.

About Camilla Isley

Camilla’s an engineer turned writer after she quit her job to follow her husband in an adventure abroad.

She’s a cat lover, coffee addict, and shoe hoarder. Besides writing, she loves reading—duh!—cooking, watching bad TV, and going to the movies—popcorn, please. She’s a bit of a foodie, nothing too serious. A keen traveler, Camilla knows mosquitoes play a role in the ecosystem, and she doesn’t want to starve all those frog princes out there, but she could really live without them.

1. I got married twice. Same man, different dresses.

2. In total, I’ve earned three driving licenses from three different states. I failed only one driving test overall.

3. I did bungee jumping once.

4. I’m a picky eater.

5. I think tea is disgusting.

6. I love Coke; I hate Pepsi.

7. I love the iPhone but I can’t use an Apple iMac for the life of me. I always end up pressing apple c and instead of copying text, I delete everything that I’ve written.

8. Once I was involved in a spectacular bike accident. A classic, a lady opened her car door without looking and I rode into it at full speed. I flew over to the other side of the door and landed flat on the concrete, unscathed.

9. I’m not a morning person.

10. I used to be good at baking cakes, but lately they either burn, don’t cook, or don’t rise properly. My mom says it’s a clear sign I got married.
