Book Review & Giveaway - Hunt the Dawn by Abbie Roads

Review by Suze
Evanee's life is terrible. Her stepbrother Junior has decided she's his and he isn't afraid to claim the rights he thinks he has. No matter how hard Evanee fights, she can't stop him. He's a threat that is always there. That changes when she meets Lathan. He helps her when she's in a difficult situation. He's fiercely protective and he's a lot stronger than Junior. Lathan wants to take Evanee home with him and he'd like her to stay, but how well does he really know her and does she feel the same about him?
Evanee and Lathan have a calming effect on each other and when they are together they feel like the world is finally right. Evanee's dealing with her family and Lathan is after a dangerous serial killer. He has a special ability that makes him invaluable when it comes to tracking criminals. Will they be able to battle evil together when everything threatens to go badly wrong for both of them and is their bond really indestructible?
Hunt the Dawn is a gripping story about two very special people. Lathan has a rough exterior, but he has a good heart. When he finds Evenee he cares for her immediately and while he's got plenty of strength he also has a wonderful gentle and sweet side. Evenee is traumatized, but she's a fighter and she's determined to live. I admired her courage and resilience. Lathan is amazed by her bravery combined with softness and a delicious scent and it's endearing to see how much he cares about her and wants her in his life. Evenee and Lathan could use some love and kindness. What happened to them in the past made my heart ache. They have plenty of obstacles to overcome and they always face them head-on, which is an admirable quality. They are perfect for one another and have a tender connection, combined with plenty of sparks and deep feelings, which is something I absolutely loved.
Abbie Roads writes about interesting characters with special abilities. She combines true love with plenty of adrenaline rushes. I love her stories because she makes me feel the emotions she's writing about. Her stories are action-packed, but they also have a deep emotional layer. Her characters have a lot to figure out and it's a fantastic process to witness. Lathan and Evenee's story is compelling, fascinating, gripping and incredibly romantic.
I highly recommend the Fatal Dreams series to anyone who loves stories about true love and main characters with special abilities. The stories can be read as standalones, but I'd advise you to start with Race the Darkness.
7 Things About Abbie Roads

1. She loves Snicker Parfaits. Gotta start with what’s most important, right?

2. She writes dark emotional books featuring damaged characters, but always gives her hero and heroine a happy ending… after torturing them for three hundred pages.

3. By day she’s a mental health counselor known for her blunt, honest style of therapy. At night she burns up the keyboard. Well… Burn might be too strong a word. She at least sits with her hands poised over the keyboard, waiting for inspiration to strike. And when it does—the keyboard might get a little warm.

4. She can’t stand it when people drive slowly in the passing lane. Just saying. That’s major annoying. Right?

5. She loves taking pictures of things she thinks are pretty.

6. She’s represented by Michelle Grajkowski of 3Seas Literary.

7. Her first book RACE THE DARKNESS was a Publishers Weekly Top 10 Pick for Fall.
