Reading in the Sun - Interview with Erin Bedford & Giveaway

About Erin Bedford

Erin Bedford is a new fantasy & romance author, a computer programmer by day, and a hobby hoarder. She enjoys playing RPG games alongside her husband as well as inventing nonsensical games for her daughter's amusement. Erin lives in the Omaha Nebraska Region and dreams of one day moving where the word snow is nonexistent.

Creating fantastical worlds have always been a secret passion of hers and she couldn't imagine writing any story without some kind of lovey-dovey or smexy goodness in it.

1. Could you tell us a bit about yourself?

Besides being a fantasy and paranormal writer, I am a computer programmer by day, a mother of an 18-month-old girl, and I love to play RPG games and read everything I can get my hands on.

2. What kind of books do you bring with you when you go on holiday?

Usually, anything that won't get me over emotional. A feel good book or something with action. I want to relax on vacation not be bawling my eyes out.

3. If you could spend a sunny day anywhere how would your perfect day look like?

A cloudless blue sky, that has a slight breeze and isn't too humid or chilly. I'd love a view of a lake or park to people watch.

4. Could you tell us about your hobbies (when you are not writing or reading)?

As I said before I like to play RPG video games, which include any Final Fantasy, Elder Scrolls Online, and sometimes some good old fashioned Legend of Zelda or Mario Brothers. I love spending time outside with my daughter and binge watching Netflix shows.

5. Where do you find the inspiration for your stories?

Lots of things inspire me. Sometimes it's just a music video, sometimes it's a single scene in a movie or book, sometimes it's just a daydream I had. The sky is the limit!

6. If you could be any leading character from a bestselling book, who would you be and why?

If I could be the leading character of any story I would be Aelin from Throne of Glass, because she is a wicked fighter and a fae! Not only does she kick butt, but she gets all the best guys. I love her personality and her spirit, she never gives up and can take anything you throw at her.

7. What's your favorite reading spot?

My favorite reading spot is on the beach or at home in the bathtub. Both places are a place of relaxation for me and it makes it easy to get into a story that way.

8. What is your favorite holiday destination and what do you like so much about it?

My favorite holiday destination is anywhere near the water. I love watching the water and there is just something so relaxing about being near it. I must have been a mermaid in another life!

9. Do you have any advice for authors who would like to write a sunny story?

Write what you love and how you want the story to go. While getting feedback from other writers and readers is all great, making sure the story stays true to itself is ultimately up to you.

10. What can we expect from you in the future?

More Urban Fantasy novels! I have found that I really enjoy writing Urban Fantasy and while I still love writing Paranormal Romance and will probably be doing that as well, my current focus is the Underground Series and want to wrap that up before I get started on another series. But nothing is set in stone, so you never know what will pop up for me!

  1. Great interview.I love reading about the people behind the books I read :)

  2. Erin sounds super awesome! I also live in Omaha, Nebraska. =D I'm excited to read this series! I have an unhealthy obsession with Alice in Wonderland and have to read everything that so much as references it in any way. =P

  3. I think the last time I read in the bathtub was when I was still a teenager - I guess when you get older you just don't appreciate the water cooling down while you get lost in the pages, hahaha!

  4. I've always liked reading in the bathtub too. There's just something about relaxing with a good book isn't there?

  5. Thanks for the great post and interview :)
