Reading in the Sun - Interview with Dahlia Donovan & Giveaway

 About Dahlia Donovan

Dahlia Donovan wrote her first romance series after a crazy dream about shifters and damsels in distress. She prefers irreverent humour and unconventional characters. An autistic and occasional hermit, her life wouldn’t be complete without her husband and her massive collection of books and video games.

1. Could you tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m autistic, a game nerd—video games to be specific. I’m an introvert who would rather stay in all day and write. My obsession with tea and biscuits borders on dangerous. =)

2. What kind of books do you bring with you when you go on holiday?

Whatever happens to be on my Kindle. Here’s what happens when I go on holiday. I put a tonne of old favourites on my e-reader but end up never reading them. Happens every single time. My last holiday I took a historical novel about Katherine of Aragon with me.

3. If you could spend a sunny day anywhere how would your perfect day look like?

Quiet. By the beach, probably in Cornwall. Many scones would be eaten.

4. Could you tell us about your hobbies (when you are not writing or reading)?

Those are my hobbies. No, video games, making chain maille jewellery. I’ve tried a bunch of hobbies, none of them have really stuck with me.

5. Where do you find the inspiration for your stories?

Pinterest? No seriously, I spend way too much time on Pinterest. I think the inspiration for some of the most unique personalities in my books tends to come from my time working in insurance. So really, inspiration can come from anywhere, if you’re looking.

6. If you could be any leading character from a bestselling book, who would you be and why?

Elizabeth Bennett. The answer to the why should be easy to figure out—Mr. Darcy.

7. What's your favorite reading spot?

Bed. It’s comfortable and has blankets.

8. What is your favorite holiday destination and what do you like so much about it?

9. Do you have any advice for authors who would like to write a sunny story?

Always include at least one rain shower. =)

10. What can we expect from you in the future?

On September 14th, my sweet novella All Lathered Up will be part of the Unintentional anthology being published by Hot Tree Publishing. It’s a lovely story about two old friends who fall in love slowly over the course of exchanging postcards.

Later this year in November, my slightly less sweet and more thrilling, suspenseful novel, The Misguided Confession, will be coming out. It’s a paranormal romance featuring an autistic cougar shifter. I’m rather excited about it.

Outside of those stories, I am currently in the process of writing three stories—two m/m and one m/m/m romance. One is a follow-up to After the Scrum, the other two feature completely new characters that are definitely spicy and a handful to write.
