Book Review - You Before Anyone Else by Julie Cross & Mark Perini

Amazon USA Amazon UK
Review by Suze
Finley and Eddie are both models. Finley wants to buy her parents' dance studio and is trying to save as much money as she can. Eddie needs a fresh start and modelling makes him enough money to be independent. He doesn't like it very much, but it fits his needs. When Finley and Eddie meet at a party they immediately get along. Eddie is great at partying and Finley is having a daring moment. After spending an interesting night together they keep bumping into one another, which gives them the chance to become friends.
Finley wants to take care of everyone she loves. She is always there for her twin brothers and her father. After the death of her mother she helped her father as much as she could, but it's time for her to have some adventures of her own. Eddie's never had someone who took care of him like that and he's drawn to Finley's loving nature. He's keeping a big secret though, one that could change his entire future. Will Finley and Eddie have a chance or is his secret bad enough to ruin his chances?
You Before Anyone Else is a special and surprising story. When I read the blurb I had no idea the story would have so many deep and meaningful twists and turns. Finley and Eddie are good for each other, but they both have a lot of baggage. They had to grow up quickly and they have a lot more on their mind than most other people who are in their late teens. Finley is a sweet and kindhearted girl who easily loves and trusts. She's wonderful to everyone and I liked that very much about her. Eddie's good at making friends and it's easy for people to warm up to him. He's cute, creative and he's good with kids, which is ideal as Finley has two little brothers. I immediately loved reading about both of them and couldn't wait to find out where their story would lead.
What I enjoyed most about You Before Anyone Else is the two amazing distinctive voices. They are equally good and work really well together. I loved the vivid descriptions of the modelling and Finley's dancing. I also loved reading about Finley's brothers, they're adorable. The story has a great natural flow, which is a fantastic achievement when there are two authors. Finley and Eddie are going through a lot and there are many intriguing emotional layers. Eddie's secret made me curious straight away and when I found out what it was I loved reading about him even more. The ending is unexpected and moving and it's fitting at the same time. I loved this beautiful story and highly recommend it.
