ReplyDeleteAnytime the characters of The Lord of the Rings overcame any obstacles, the erudite Gandalf was probably leading the way. With a pointy hat, silvered beard, and unmatchable intellect, Gandalf can be said to be one of the greatest wizards of them all.

ReplyDeleteI have always been partial to Peter Pan. As a child I was completely indifferent to his being a boy and I dressed as him every Mardi Gras (I grew up in New Orleans). I liked that the story revolved around him and that he was brave and loyal. We had a beautiful illustrated edition of the story with plates by an illustrator that I can not find though some of them are surely in this reprint edition here: https://www.amazon.com/Peter-Pan-Classic-Illustrated/dp/0811822974 because that cover image if from the book I had. I was a child in the 1950s and my book was already very old. It was likely from my mother's childhood in the 1920s. Gone now of course, what I wouldn't give to see those beautiful plates again.
