Book Review - Hunter & Thief by Erin Bedford

Review by Anniek

Isabel had no choice but to break up with Jason after it became obvious that they both wanted something different from their relationship. Isabel started working for Vincent. Vincent is a werewolf and he owns a casino. Isabel's father has a drinking and gambling problem, which got him in trouble and he lost a lot of money. Isabel is trying to solve her father's problems and is now living at Vincent's house. She thinks that this kind werewolf might be the man she needs to finally get over Jason. In a small town nothing stays hidden though. Is Vincent really the man she thinks he is?

Jason has never loved a woman like he loves Isabel. Ever since she walked out on him he has been trying to win her back. He teases her and tries to show Isabel how he regrets what happened between them. Jason has a hard time dealing with the fact that Isabel is with Vincent now, but he'll do and accept anything to get her back. Jason and Isabel are both hotheaded and have passionate opinions. Isabel looks sweet on the outside, but is strong and determined when she needs to be. Even though they're not together, their love for each other can still be felt through every word. I was hoping that they would be able to find the right path again, which would maybe lead them back into each other's arms.

Hunter is the first book in the Fairy Tale Bad Boy series. I love fairytales and happily ever afters and liked that this story addresses difficult topics as well. Hunter is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast and Erin Bedford has certainly spiced her story up and has added great twists and turns. I loved Isabel and Jason as a couple straight away and I couldn't wait to find out what would happen to them. Because of the fact that Hunter is a short novel it fit perfectly into my busy everyday schedule. It's great for when you don't have a lot of time, but do want to get lost in a good story. I've read multiple books written by Erin Bedford already and I can promise you that this won't be my last.

Advice

If you like to read about soulmates, fairytales and werewolves Hunter would be a perfect choice.

Tom is a Fae man and he lives in the human world. Tom has been in a relationship with Monica for seven years and they have a beautiful two-year-old girl named Evie. Tom is stunned when he finds a message scribbled on a piece of paper saying that Monica has left him. She's taken all of his money and their daughter with her. Tom thought they were happy and her leaving comes as a big shock for him. He can get over the fact that Monica left him, but he will fight for his daughter. In a world where humans feel like they're above supernaturals Tom needs all the help he can get. Can he find a lawyer who can get Evie back for him?

Sage resents the Fae ever since her Fae father bespelled her mother and left her. Sage watched her mother's sadness and swore never to make the same mistakes. Sage is half Fae, but her magical powers have been dormant her whole life. That is until she meets Tom. Sage tries to push him away, but with a little girl involved she knows she'll do whatever is in her power to help him. Tom also made her magic come to life and Sage feels drawn to him. Will Sage be able to get over her hurt and open up her heart to the possibility of love?

From the very first moment Tom and Sage meet their chemistry is off the charts. Sage has been hurt in the past and she's terrified of being bespelled. When a Fae bespells a human he or she will do anything for them and will long to be around them. It's one of the worst crimes and Sage protects herself with an amulet against Fae power. Tom isn't like this though, he's such a sweet dad and I loved to read about how much he cares for his daughter. I was wishing for them all to find a happy ending.

Thief is a modern day retelling of Rumplestilskin with a bad-boy twist. Erin Bedford makes it feel so logical to have Fae living among humans and this made it easy for me to connect to the story. I love to read about the supernatural and I like the idea of a magical connection between soulmates. Erin Bedford never fails to cast a spell on me, her stories are brilliant. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this Fairy Tale Bad Boy series.

Advice

If you love to read about supernatural beings and like a good love story and fairytale I think you'll enjoy Thief very much. Even though Thief is the third book in the Fairy Tale Bad Boy series it can be read as a standalone.
