Jake spent a large part of his life paying for a mistake he didn't actually make. He took the blame for something he didn't do and tried to save the people involved instead. He can't stop thinking about that day. He's working as a carpenter now and can live from the money he makes, but his past will always haunt him. Lives were saved, but not everyone survived the fire his brother caused. Jake didn't only lose his freedom, he also never saw Emma, the girl he loved with all his heart, again.
Emma is living with guilt every single day. She managed to get her sister out of the fire that destroyed their family home, but she couldn't save her brother. She made a choice and has to live with the consequences. She and her sister started over in Juniper Hills, a nice small town that now feels like home. Emma never wants to see Jake again after all the heartache he caused. However, Jake is in town for a job and therefore he's back in Emma's life. Emma can't stop blaming him for what he's done, but does she have all the facts, what really happened on that terrible day that changed their lives forever? Will she be able to forgive and move on?
All There Is is a beautiful story about grief, hope and dreams. Emma and Jake are amazing kindhearted people and my heart ached for them. They went through so much together and on their own. There are many misunderstandings and they have to find a way to cope with the burden of their past. I kept hoping these two beautiful souls would find their happily ever after. It's clear from the start that they are each other's true love and they deserve a wonderful future instead of more heartbreak and sadness. I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough to find out if they'd get a second chance together.
Violet Duke has written an impressive story that moved me to tears and made me smile. I loved the wisdom she shares, the gentle and emphatic way she writes about past mistakes, her forgiveness when it comes to flaws and the love her main characters have for one another. I was also spellbound by her setting, the warm and welcoming town of Juniper Hills. It's a great town to read about with interesting inhabitants. All There Is is a fantastic story filled with many precious moments, kindness and charm.
If you love beautiful small town romance All There Is would be a perfect choice.
