  1. I like an older bookshop or library, because I love the smell of the wood and the books reminding me of who and what used to be there :)

  2. Little independent bookshops. More casual and personal.

Easy to get to as every Wed my best friend(mom) not really my mom but she picks me up and then we go eat then she drops me off there I get a book or 5 then I walk across she is usually there to help me which is so nice as she has been a friend for 16 years my first friend when i moved away from my family and to Iowa from Ca.

  4. My ideal bookshop would have all of my favourite books, of course, as well as all the books I want to read... So it would basically have to be the size of a small country.;)

  5. My ideal library will have comfortable but supportive seats with armrests and a curved back, ample desks, preferably with smooth leather tops, sockets for electronic equipment (on condition that they perform in utter silence), and soft individual lights like the green-glass reading lamps. My ideal library also allows me to have the book out for as long as I need it. So of course there are no late fines. And the library hours, open whenever I have the time or inclination to walk through its doors.

  6. If you're ever in Ireland put the library in Trinity College, Dublin on your list of places-to-go. Built in the early 1700s it houses the famous illuminated Book of Kells (800 A.D.) and just blows my mind every time I go there. Now if only they'd let me curl up on a beanbag in the corner ...!

  7. "What's your ideal kind of library or bookshop?" It must be open to a height of at least two storeys, it must have dark wood panelling and finely crafted shelving, and it must be ringed by at least one balcony-level or mezzanine-level course of shelving where one can walk around and look at those higher levels of books, going up and up and up.

I love little bookshops run by real book lovers, who have a mix of new releases, classics and second hand books that I can happily browse and select without being hassled. My library is also a special place, small but welcoming where the librarians know me and my tastes and will spend time discussing the merits of different authors or books chosen.

  36. What a lovely giveaway!! Congratulations on hitting the followers milestone!!

My ideal library is one that has plenty of free parking. Such a weird irk, but one of my issues with my currently library is that they have a tiny lot that is incredibly hard to navigate because it is so narrow. And it's almost always packed. Which means I have to try to parallel park my car on the street (not a fan). Also a library with lots of windows for natural lighting! I love when there are "featured" shelves that have a weekly/monthly theme, as well as the library "what we recommend" shelf.

For bookshops, I'm a total sucker for shops that have a cafe. There is nothing better than wandering around the shop with a nice cup of tea!
