Book Review - Kiss My Boots by Harper Sloan

Book review

Goodreads

Quinn and Tate used to be inseparable during the summers Tate spent in Time Oak with his grandparents. First they were friends, but when they got older they became much more. When Tate left Time Oak to go to university Quinn thought they would be able to make a long distance relationship work. However, Tate abandoned Quinn and she never heard from him again. What was the reason he left her?

Quinn doesn't want to have a man in her life. Being abandoned by Tate still hurts many years later. When she finds out Tate is back in town after many years of complete silence Quinn isn't happy at all. Tate wants to have a second chance. Even though he had his reasons to leave her it doesn't mean he can convince Quinn to let him back into her life again. Will he be able to win the heart of the woman he's always loved once more?

Kiss My Boots is a great romantic story. I love reading about life in small towns. Quinn is tough and comfortable in her own skin. She owns a garage, where she works on her beloved old trucks and other cars. She's feminine, but not groomed. Her beauty is all natural and she has plenty of confidence. I liked her fierceness and her sassy attitude. She's perfect for Tate. He's a doctor with a friendly nature. He's a really good guy, he loves deeply and is willing to go far for the people he cares about. I liked that a lot about him. Quinn needs his sweetness and he needs her spark, which makes them amazing together. They have plenty of chemistry and I was curious to find out if they'd finally get their chance at happiness.

Time Oak is a wonderful setting. I loved reading about this fabulous place with its interesting inhabitants. The people are close and Harper Sloan writes about them with a lovely sense of humor. It's clear she enjoys writing about her characters very much and she makes it easy for her readers to get to know them through and through. I liked reading about Quinn and Tate. They've been through a lot and she writes about that with plenty of empathy. Their story is sexy, emotional and entertaining. I love Harper Sloan's writing style, the southern atmosphere makes it incredibly fun to read. Kiss My Boots is a hot and charming story and I liked it just as much as Lost Rider, the first book in the Coming Home series.

Advice

If you love small town romance Kiss My Boots would be an excellent choice. It's the second book in the Coming Home series and can be read as a standalone, but if you want to get the full story you should start with Lost Rider.

  12. I love the sound of this. I really enjoy the books where women aren't doing traditional "female" jobs - that sounds so sexist now, but hope it makes sense. Small town romances are a great read, and can see myself enjoying this one.
