Deirde's parents own a pub in Ireland and her family expects her to work there, but Deirdre would rather bake than spend her time behind the bar. That's why she visits her aunt and cousins in Chicago, so she can experience some freedom and do what she loves doing the most. She has a boyfriend back home, Rory, but he doesn't seem to mind that she's gone. Again, there are family expectations, but is Rory really the one for Deirdre?

Tommy works in a tattoo shop. He's covered in gorgeous ink and loves his art. When Tommy meets Deirdre he instantly knows he wants to spend more time with her. However, Deirdre isn't free and she has to leave the country in a few weeks. Will Tommy have a chance with the girl of his dreams or will she break his heart?

Through Your Eyes is a wonderful story. Deirdre doesn't have much experience when it comes to boyfriends, she's insecure and she's used to being told what to do. Finding out what she likes and what she wants in life is something she's never had the chance to do. She's a lovely friendly person with plenty of talents. I kept hoping she'd find a way to find herself and to be free to live her own life. Tommy is supporting her one hundred percent. He's sweet, caring and chivalrous. I loved how careful he is with Deirdre. They are a perfect couple with plenty of chemistry and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to see if they'd get their happily ever after.

Shannyn Schroeder's writing has an easy flow. I love how she's based her story on family connections. They're interesting and there's always something going on. Every family is different and Shannyn Schroeder perfectly understands the dynamics, which makes her stories fascinating and fun to read. Her characters aren't without flaws, but they're working on being a better version of themselves, which is another thing I love about her books. Through Your Eyes is romantic, entertaining and charming. I really liked this amazing story.

Advice

Through Your Eyes is part of the For Your Love series. You can easily read the books as standalones, but if you prefer to know all the family details I'd start with the first book in the series, Under Your Skin.

Interview

1) What's the most romantic thing you can think of?

This question is probably one of the hardest for me to answer because in real life, I’m not very romantic. I’m not hearts and flowers kind of girl. For me it’s about a guy doing the unexpected, even if it’s a boring, everyday task. Like changing the oil on my car or emptying and refilling the dishwasher. Anything that takes a load off my list is extremely romantic because it says you’re thinking about me and what matters to me.

2) Describe your main characters in six words each?

Tommy – tattooed artist, hockey player, family-oriented, thoughtful

Deirdre – shy virgin, religious, adventure-seeking, family obligations

3) What's so attractive about men covered in ink?

The artistry is amazing and seeing that artwork in motion can be hot. For me, though, it’s the stories behind the tattoos that make them so interesting. It’s the meaning behind each mark that matters.

4) Can you give 3 random facts about yourself?

I’m a really shy, awkward introvert. This might sound funny since I’ve been a teacher for most of my adult life. Put me in front of a group of teenagers and I’m fine. Put me at a cocktail party and I forget how to talk.

When I’m stressed out, I bake. I prefer to bake cookies, but I’ll bake just about anything. It could be stress from anything – the kids making me crazy, day job stuff, a plot that won’t cooperate. When I need a break I go to the kitchen.

I watch too much TV. I don’t go out much (hardly ever). Between all of my part-time jobs — yes, I have a collection – and running my 3 kids everywhere they need to be, by the time my day is done, I just want to veg out. I love my DVR. I can record hours and hours of TV and never have to watch commercials.

5) Where do you read and where do you write?

I do most of my reading in bed. I read every night before going to sleep. I write everywhere. Since I’ve been writing since my kids were little, I trained myself to write whenever and wherever I had free time. This means that I tend to do writing while they’re in extracurricular activities. An hour of dance? Time to write. An hour and half of swim team? Time to write. More often than not, those hours are spent writing at McDonald’s ($1 drinks and free refills for the win!). I also meet up with some fellow writers on the weekends at Panera for writing sessions. I do have a desk in a kind of office space (our spare bedroom) and when I’m at home I write there.

  1. I used to work in a pub where everyone knew each other. And I've always wanted to visit Ireland. Sounds like a wonderful book! And I love nice ink on men. As long as it isn't vulgar or covering their face.

  2. I enjoy reading about big Irish families. It's learning about all the characters that makes the story for me. Thanks for the post & giveaway chance.
