  1. We had just moved into our first flat together & were really broke so instead of going out to dinner for my birthday he popped a frozen pizza in the oven & served it with candles & wildflowers!

  2. My husband is the single most amazing person and for some inexplicable reason loves me back. He often says incredibly romantic things but the one thing that completely slayed me was a to-do/bucket list that he had written which I was never meant to see. His top item was; "Be a better person for Solange". I love him stupid amounts.

  4. Many years ago (June 1992), my first husband and I had only been dating about 6 months and were due to go on the Puffin Patrol (a boat trip around Herm and Jethou to see the breeding puffins). However, it was cancelled due to bad weather so he surprised me by giving me a cuddly toy puffin. I still take my puffin to bed with me every night. This may sound nuts, but I lost my husband to cancer in 1998, so my puffin is very special to me.

  8. My first year with my husband, well he wasn't my husband yet, he surprised me with a wonderful Valentine's Dinner at his house. He cooked dinner, had several roses dipped with glitter on them, and more. It was so sweet and romantic.

  9. My x-bf took me to see my favourite football team play his favourite football team on my birthday (he kept it a secret and actually asked my boss to give me the afternoon off so we could get there in plenty of time). He actually sat with me, although he was sat with the "wrong" fans. Not really had any romantic things as none of my bf's were into romantic gestures.

  15. Many years ago when my husband and I had just 5 of our 7 children home I thought we were going to order from a restaurant for Valentine's Day but my husband brought my parents over too babysit. He had rented a room, laid out with beautiful roses and called room service for dinner. That was the most romantic evening because when you have 5 kids and you're exhausted by days end it was a miracle. :)

  24. The most thoughtful date I had really was a day planned on my behalf: a trip to downtown Toronto for lunch at a restaurant I haven't tried, a visit to the Art Gallery of Ontario to see Renoir, a trip to Kensington Market to see vintage shops, and then dinner to meet his parents. It was the PERFECT date.

  31. I spent a romantic weekend with an awesome man. We rode together in the backseat of a car while he shared humorous, clean comments, we went to a high class hotel he was staying in to dinner, then went to a movie, walked in the rain in our Sunday best to a small restaurant, then danced at the home I stayed in until it was curfew. It was Heaven on earth.
