Grace used to be part of the Sawyer family, until her mother messed things up. She had to miss her stepfather and three stepbrothers because of the nasty divorce that was the result of her mother's actions. The Sawyer brothers have avoided Grace ever since. They all work at the family seafood business and when Grace by accident applies for a job there Jack decides to hire her. Of the three Sawyer brothers he's the one Grace liked the most. Jack doesn't know if Grace is anything like her mother and if she can be trusted, but he gives her a chance anyway and Grace can't say no, because she desperately needs the money.

Grace wants to make things right again with the Sawyers and she knows how to proceed. Will her plan actually work or will it backfire completely? She has the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Jack and they start to like one another more and more. While Jack would love to date Grace she isn't sure they should tell the world they like each other, because she doesn't know if Jack's brothers will be as forgiving as Jack. Will Jack and Grace have a chance or has Grace's mother made such a huge mistake that the damage is irreparable?

Forbidden Kisses is a fabulous romantic story. I immediately loved Grace. She's kindhearted, sweet and giving. She always thinks about others first and does everything she can to make the people she loves as happy as possible, even when they've hurt her. She and Jack have amazing chemistry. Jack is a nice guy with plenty of talents. He's generous and attentive. I loved his friendly open-minded personality and his willingness to give people second chances is admirable. Jack and Grace are a wonderful couple. There are sparks and there's plenty of love and I hoped they could make the animosity between their families go away, so they could experience true love. I couldn't wait to find out what would happen between them and this made me fly through the pages.

Annie Rains writes about a beautiful coastal town and I immediately fell in love with Blushing Bay, it's a fantastic setting. Her vivid and detailed descriptions of the town and its inhabitants make her story come to life very well. I loved the warm friendships, the welcoming people and the amicable atmosphere. Forbidden Kisses is a great first part of the Blushing Bay series. I really enjoyed reading this charming and endearing story.

Advice

If you love reading about coastal towns, kind people and true love you will definitely like Forbidden Kisses.

 Interview

1) Could you name 3 random facts about yourself?

I’m a married mother of 3 small children. I love coffee and I’m a recovering Dr. Pepper addict. I wrote my first book when I was 6 years old—and I haven’t stopped since!

2) Can you tell a bit more about Blushing Bay?

Blushing Bay is a fictional fishing town on the coast of North Carolina. There are a lot of similar towns in North Carolina where I grew up, so BB is just a merging of them all. I love small towns on the coast. They’re cozy and as soon as I start writing my stories inside of them, I feel immediately at home. That’s always my hope for the readers, too.

3) Is the Sawyer's seafood business based on a real place, what inspired you to write about it?

Growing up on the coast, I’ve always loved driving through fishing towns. The idea of men on a boat, soaking in the sun and fishing all day is very romantic to me. So when I was thinking of the kind of heroes I wanted to write about next, this is what came to mind and was most exciting to me. I love the idea of a close knit group of men, such as brothers, so that’s how the Sawyer brothers came to be.

4) Could you describe the main characters of Forbidden Kisses in six words each?

Grace: strong, broken, independent, loyal, dedicated, friend
Jack: strong, considerate, family-oriented, devoted, haunted, peacemaker

5) What's the most romantic thing that ever happened to you?

I met my husband and I have to say, that was the most romantic thing to me. We met online and decided to meet in person. We arranged to have lunch at a little artsy café. It was raining outside that day, which I find extremely romantic (did I mention his last name was Rains, too?). As soon as I saw him, my heart skipped, time slowed, and I knew he was it for me. That moment is my number one romantic moment. It wasn’t some grand gesture, it was just that love at first sight moment.

6) What are your plans for the future?

I would love to continue writing emotional and heartfelt romance and maybe delve into women’s fiction as well. I want to continue connecting with my readers in creative ways, so stay tuned and keep in touch everyone!
