  21. Really tough question for me. I read a lot of books and a lot of different genres. YA: Tamora Pierce hands down. I've been reading her since I first found one of her books in middle school. I was so very fortunate to meet her at NYCC one year. Romance: contemporary - Linda Howard: she's one of the first romance authors I read and I still love her contemporary books. After the Night and Mr. Perfect are still re-reads for me. PNR: Marjorie M. Liu: she's such an evocative writer and knows how to write a scene so you feel like you're immersed inside it. Regency: Stephanie Laurens - I love the Cynster family and her non-Cynster books are pretty good as well!. Fantasy: Is there anyone better than Tolkien? It's a cliche answer for a reason... okay, how about Andre Norton? She's amazing. Sci Fi: I'm going to cheat a bit and say Anne McCaffrey - I fell in love with her Space Pirate series when I was in fifth grade. Then she went to dinosaurs and well, yeah.

    1. I forgot the why part of the question. For all those authors its about their writing, the characters they bring to life, the storylines they captivate me with and just the talent of their creativity.

  28. I love Chris Carter - I read one book (don't think it was even in the right order) and absolutely loved it. He's a bit gory, but writes a great crime thriller. The Night Stalker is my FAVOURITE book of all time. The 2 main characters in his series are easy to "get to know" and can almost picture them in my head.
