  3. The best bookish gift I ever got was my first library card! My mom got it for me when I was very young and made sure I got to the library frequently. I discovered so many wonderful authors and books and have never slowed down on reading.

  4. My best bookish gift was when I convinced my mom to just take me to a bookstore for my birthday one year so I could pick out what I wanted. She's not a reader, so she never thinks books are good gifts. I managed to change her mind at least temporarily.

  10. The best bookish gift I got was an Amazon.com gift card. My brother had been out in the military and deployed. With no word from him in over a month, my family was scared something had happened. But then I got this Amazon.com gift card in the mail for my birthday. It was from my brother. He was unable to contact us but he sent me that gift card to let me know he was okay. Best gift ever.

  13. My Hubby bought me a copy of 'Before Green Gables' when I was in hospital. I love Anne of Green Gables and this was a book I didn't know existed, it was fabulous and really cheered me up.

  28. The best bookish gift I received was a series of fairytales at the age of 3. My aunt who was a teacher bought me this gift and taught me how to read until the age of 4. That's how was born my love for reading.

  32. As a child, I'd often receive a stack of 15 or so mystery books as a Christmas gift. I'd say that was my best bookish gift because it encouraged my love of reading as well as my reading skill. I love reading so much that I became a reading teacher as well as a librarian.
