  9. A waitress smashing a pie in my face.
I must have been about... 12? My dad had taken two of my girlfriends and I to a nearby city to visit an aquarium or museum. We (I doubt I would have voted in favor of this, ever...) stopped to eat at a 1950s-style diner-type place that is known for heaping a whole lot of sass and attitude on its customers. (Imagine a gum-snapping waitress in tortoiseshell glasses whining, "So whatcha waaaannntt?") All hell seemed to break loose once word got out that it was my birthday, and my dad and friends didn't catch on that I was silent, red-faced, and basically crying. My birthday is coming up again in a few weeks, and I still remember that awful day. Ughhhhhh.

  11. Hallo, Hallo! :)

Curiously, the first 'birthday' memory that popped into my mind was not my birthday but my 1st Blog Birthday wherein my parents treated me to a special *surprise!* party at a local healthy eats cafe! There were balloons, party hats & a surprise menu with desert and coffee, too! They even surprised me further by giving me beautiful hardback copies of Jane Austen's Mansfield Park Northanger Abbey! Of which I'll be reading this coming 4th Year I'm celebrating as a book blogger! Talk about a special day when you realise how supportive your fam is of your blogging life!

  12. My most memorable birthday was probably my 18th. It's cliche, but we went all out. I was kind of a goody-goody in school and never touched alcohol (well, except for the occasional glass of wine with family!)...so it actually was my first legal drink in a public place. We went to this amazing beer bar (no hard liquor for me!) with lots of craft beers. We listened to a great alt-country band and I wore a crown all night!
