Make Me Stay by Rebecca Brooks - Book Review & Giveaway

Book review

 Review by Suze

Samantha is the heir of a billion dollar company. Her father was working on a large project and she has to make a success of it to convince the board she's capable and to secure her place. Sam's dad wanted to turn Gold Mountain into a national top three ski resort. Sam is trying to continue the work and honor his legacy, but there's one problem and it's up to her to solve it. There is someone who doesn't want to sell his property. Sam is used to getting her way, so she decides to find this man and make him change his mind.

Austin used to have a promising career as a professional skier. A shattered knee put an end to it and now he's working as an instructor. He loves Gold Mountain, it's his home and the place is in his heart. The last thing he wants is change. Austin doesn't recognize Sam and has no idea why she's there. He thinks she's on holiday and she uses this to get close to him, but the more time they spend together the less time Sam spends thinking about her purpose. Will Austin get his way or will Sam get hers and are they actually mutually exclusive?

Make Me Stay is a great sexy story. I loved both Sam and Austin from the start. Sam is capable, independent and she knows what she wants. Her work is her life and she has a reputation to uphold, she always gets her way. She also has a sweet side. She's caring and kind and she has a good heart. Austin hasn't had an easy life. He doesn't let people come close and likes the quietness and solitude of the mountain. He's good at skiing and loves being outdoors. He cares about his surroundings and wants to fight for the area he loves. That's an admirable quality and I loved that. Austin and Sam have amazing chemistry together, which results in some pretty hot scenes. They connect on an emotional level as well and I enjoyed reading about their ideas, their dreams and their beliefs.

Rebecca Brooks has written a wonderful romantic story. Her writing flows easily and she knows how to capture the magic of a winter wonderland. I read her beautiful descriptions of Gold Mountain and the snow with a big smile on my face. It's such an incredible setting and it almost felt like a third main character. I loved the way Rebecca Brooks writes about it while expressing feelings. She combines this with very well built up tension, which results in some impressive intense scenes. Everything about this story was exactly right for me. Make Me Stay is a fun heartwarming winter romance. I highly recommend this fabulous story.

 About Rebecca Brooks

Rebecca Brooks is the author of contemporary romance novels HOW TO FALL and ABOVE ALL. She lives in New York City in an apartment filled with books.

She received a PhD in English but decided it was more fun to write books than write about them. She has backpacked alone through India and Brazil, traveled by cargo boat down the Amazon River, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, explored ice caves in Peru, trekked to the source of the Ganges, and sunbathed in Burma, but she always likes coming home to a cold beer and her hot husband in the Bronx.

Her books are about independent women who leave their old lives behind to try something new—and find the passion, excitement and purpose they didn’t know they’d been missing.
Samantha Kane is about to solidify her father’s legacy by developing sleepy Gold Mountain into the most profitable ski resort in the country. There’s one man standing in her way though. One very sexy, rugged man. When she shows up to convince Austin Reede to sell, she has no intention of hiding her identity. But with a body like his, she’ll take a few risks to get closer.

Austin was the fastest skier on the U.S. Olympic team, until he shattered his knee. Gold Mountain became his refuge—and now Kane Enterprises is threatening that home. When he meets Sam, he has no idea she’s the one to blame, he just knows the attraction between them is one he hasn’t felt in years. A scorching hot one-night stand is just what he needs. Little does he guess that it will change everything…
