About Michelle Abbott
Michelle Abbott lives in the UK and hates describing herself in 3rd person.
She's a self-published author of new adult romance, and likes to write about heroes who begin as the underdog and are protective of their girl.
She's an avid reader of romance, is addicted to coffee and loves wine and chocolate, so yeah, not the most healthy eating and drinking habits :-) She spends way too much time online when she should be writing. She collects teddy bears and occasionally knits a couple of rows on a sweater she started years ago, which she may eventually finish in time to wear for her funeral :-)

1. Could you tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m a British romance author living in the south of England. I have four books published to date.
2. What kind of books do you bring with you when you go on holiday?
Romance, always! I take my kindle, which currently has about a hundred books on it.
3. If you could spend a sunny day anywhere how would your perfect day look like?
I would be on a quiet, sandy beach, somewhere in Norfolk. Preferably just me, the sound of the waves and the odd seagull. I’d take along a picnic, a small bottle of wine, and just chill.
4. Could you tell us about your hobbies (when you are not writing or reading)?
I enjoy knitting but I’m slow so it takes me ages to finish anything. Crosswords, both regular and cryptic. I practise yoga daily but I’m not sure I can call that a hobby.
5. Where do you find the inspiration for your stories?
Places I’ve lived or visited. The personality traits and voices of my characters are based on people I’ve known or seen, but the situation I put them in is always fictional. I grew up in a poor area, so my characters reflect that. I couldn’t write about a millionaire because I’ve never met one and wouldn’t know the first thing about them!
6. If you could be any leading character from a bestselling book, who would you be and why?
Hermione Granger because I’d love to wave a magic wand and make things happen!
7. What's your favorite reading spot?
Curled up on my sofa with a cup of tea to hand.
8. What is your favorite holiday destination and what do you like so much about it?
Norfolk, because I have family living there, the beaches are beautiful, the people are friendly and there’s lots to see and do.
9. Do you have any advice for authors who would like to write a sunny story?
I’m not sure I’m qualified to give advice but I’ll give it a shot. Help the reader to experience the story with all their senses, not just visual. Describe the feel of cool sun lotion being applied to warm skin, the smell of the local cuisine, the sound of gulls overhead.
10. What can we expect from you in the future?
I’m working on a short story for a bad boy anthology which is due to be published on November 1st, 2016. My hero is a drug dealer with a heart! I’m loving my characters so much that I’m continuing their story in a book of their own which I hope to release early next year. I was working on a dark romance involving kidnap and sex slavery but that is on hold right now. I will come back to it and publish it later next year. You can follow me on Twitter or Facebook for updates.
