Carli is hard of hearing and even though she sometimes struggles she tries to manage with the help of her hearing aids. During one of the times they don't suffice, at a class where she can't understand anything, she meets Reed. Reed is deaf and he introduces her to a whole new world. Carli doesn't have to figure everything out on her own, she can have help with her hearing problems. Reed isn't bad to look at either and she loves to spend time with him.

Reed had his heart broken and for years he wasn't ready for love, but when he meets Carli he feels the need to help and protect her. He loves her strength and vulnerability, but he also sees that she's determined to do everything on her own and isn't ready to let anyone in yet. Is he prepared to give her the time she needs while there is a chance she might never completely accept him? Will he risk being hurt by love again?

Signs of Attraction is a beautiful heartbreaking story. Laura Brown describes what it's like to be deaf and hard of hearing in a detailed and informative way. She knows everything there is to know about her topic and it shows. I'm a big fan of books about amazing disabled people. Carli and Reed are both strong and intelligent and their lives fascinated me. I fell in love with their story from the start. They are sweet together, they're looking out for one another and they have great chemistry as well.

Laura Brown's writing brings her readers warmth and comfort. She writes about life in a raw and realistic way with the clear message that love makes everything better. Bad things can happen and nothing is only glitter, sunshine and roses. She doesn't spare her main characters and that makes them easier to approach and I felt an emotional connection to them from the start. There's a terrible moment that made me shed plenty of tears. Laura Brown uses love and support as comforting factors after this dreadful moment, which is lovely to see. I went from one emotion to the next and Signs of Attraction has many different layers. It's a story filled with surprises and I was fascinated from the start.

Signs of Attraction is very romantic and while the story is often heartwarming and cute there are also a few really dark parts. Laura Brown describes them in a realistic, compassionate and complete way. She has written a captivating story filled with unexpected twists and turns. I highly recommend this amazing book.

  5. Romance isn't my thing but the human story, of struggling with a disability, sounds very well put together.

  6. A beautiful review, of what looks to be a beautiful book. Right away, I was reminded of a quote that a friend of mine has put up on her wall:
“Perhaps strength doesn’t reside in having never been broken, but in the courage required to grow strong in the broken places.” -Ruthie Dean

  8. I think its a sign of a good Author if they can write about different subjects, for examples disabilities and do it in a well informed and compassionate way. From your review, I think the Author did this subject well.
