Aubry loves computers and gaming, but she doesn't like people very much. She has one good friend, Jules, and doesn't want anyone else in her life. When she's being asked as one of ten top gamers to test the demo of the latest version of her favorite game her anxiety prevents her from accepting the invitation. She can't go on her own, but Jules has found the perfect solution Aubry can take her friend Quinn and will pretend to be his girlfriend at his sister's wedding in return. There's only one problem, Audry despises Quinn...
Quinn and Aubry can't have a normal conversation, every time they're trying to have a conversation they end up fighting, which means they spend many uncomfortable hours in the car. They find out they are physically attracted to one another though, which makes the journey a lot more interesting all of a sudden. Will their trip change things between them or will they end up hating each other even more?
Fool Me Once is a fun and sexy book. Aubry thinks she doesn't need anyone in her life, but Quinn manages to break through her defenses. I was curious to see what the results of his actions would be. There's a lot of chemistry between them which results in several really hot scenes. Their attraction is obvious from the start and I loved the way they behave when they are together. Aubry is a strong, independent woman who isn't afraid to speak her mind. She only has one fear, large groups of people. She's fabulous, I liked her looks, her outspokenness and her stubbornness. At first sight Quinn is a laidback cowboy who isn't easily irritated, but there's more to him than that. I enjoyed finding out more about his personality, his family and his history. Aubry and Quinn aren't an obvious match, but it's clear from the start that they are an intriguing one.
Katee Robert knows how to write about passion and that's what makes this book so good. Her characters are unique and their story is creative. I loved her descriptions of their personalities. She gives her readers the chance to get to know them through and through. There's so much tension between Quinn and Aubry that it's almost too much sometimes, which kept me fascinated the entire time I was reading. They are a phenomenal, original couple and together they make Fool Me Once a fantastic energetic love story.
