Book Review - How to Find Love in a Book Shop by Veronica Henry

Nightingale Books is the place where all book lovers in Peasebrook go when they need something to read. Emilia Nightingale has just inherited the bookshop from her father, who was a kindhearted, welcoming and generous person. He didn't care much about earning a decent living and the shop hasn't made any profit for a very long time. Emilia doesn't have much time to make improvements, because she can only keep it open for a few more months if she can't turn things around. She's tempted to sell, but she feels at home in the shop and the responsibility towards her deceased father and the inhabitants of Peasebrook make her reluctant to let go. She's received a fantastic offer, but money isn't everything.

The customers of the bookshop all have their own story. Sarah is the owner of Peasebrook Manor. She found something she never thought she'd find in Nightingale Books. It's hard to get on with life, especially since she worries about her daughter and has nobody to share this with. Jackson has been sent to check out the shop and finds something there that he never thought he'd find. He wants to win back what he's lost and maybe reading with his son will help him in that department. Thomasina is shy and extremely talented. She loves cooking and runs a pop-up restaurant. There's someone she really likes, but she needs to find the courage to do something about it. June is a successful business owner. She never got over the breakup with the love of her life, but maybe the bookshop will bring her what she thought she'd lost forever. Will Emilia be able to keep offering the inhabitants of Peasebook what they need the most?

How to Find Love in a Book Shop is a wonderful story. I love reading about bookshops, they always have the most amazing atmosphere and Veronica Henry manages to make Nightingale Books come to life very well. Her descriptions are vivid and accurate and I could easily picture the shop, the books and the customers. Emilia is a sweetheart, someone who truly belongs at the heart of a special place. I loved reading about her adventures and the ups and downs of running ones own business. Veronica Henry has created a magical environment with enchanting characters and I was truly spellbound the entire time I was reading this book.

Veronica Henry has a warm and inviting writing style. As soon as I start reading one of her stories everything that happens around me disappears and I don't see or hear anything until I've finished the story. I love it when a book has that effect on me. The people she writes about are always fascinating and her stories are heartwarming and romantic. How to Find Love in a Book Shop is a brilliant story with a sweet ending. It's the perfect book for everyone who loves to read.

  4. I absolutely adore bookshops, especially second-hand ones. I love finding that perfect book and wondering whose hands had turned the pages before me.
