Tips for Choosing a Florist for Your Wedding
by Tara Randel

In The Bridal Bouquet, Kady Lawrence, co-owner of the Lavish Lily, works with brides to make the dreams of their big day come true. As any wedding professional, she advises her clients to research, then choose a florist who will carry out the vision. Flowers are an important statement at a wedding, and the bride and groom need to communicate their wishes in order for a florist to carry out the theme.

So what does Kady recommend when searching for the right florist?

First, it helps to know the venue of the ceremony and reception. Since most venues are booked up to a year in advance, this gives the professional time to determine what works best for the couple. If it is an outdoor wedding, the climate is a consideration. If it is a huge room the decorate, this will determine the size of the order.

Know your budget. This allows the florist to present different choices within reasonable exceptions.

Do you know the flower type or design you’ve envisioned for your ceremony? Have you picked out a color scheme? The florist can guide you in this area. Ask if the florist has a book containing photos of the flowers she has designed for weddings.

What time of the year will the wedding be held? Different seasons offer different flowers types and colors.

Visit different florists before making a decision. Compare. Get quotes. Keep a running list so you can make an informed decision. Clients should book their florist six to eight months in advance of the wedding.

Kady has to win the wedding bouquet design competition at the annual floral convention, it's the only way her parents will ever have faith in her. She works at the family flower shop and is a talented florist, but her parents still can't see how good Kady is. They favor their son Will, who can do nothing wrong in their eyes. They are planning to retire and are giving Kady an ultimatum. She only has a few weeks to prove herself while they are on a cruise. Winning the competition is one of their conditions.
Kady's biggest competitor Jasmine will also be at the fair. She's never been able to beat her before, will she be able to do it now? Her rival has brought her son this year and by coincidence he and Kady know each other. Dylan is a cop on an undercover mission and he isn't allowed to tell Kady anything about himself. They like each other, but will they have a chance once Kady finds out the truth?
The Bridal Bouquet is a sweet and romantic story about two people who are perfect for one another. Kady is strong, independent and resilient. She's a talented woman and flowers are her passion. I loved reading about her creations. Tara Randel describes them in such a wonderful vivid way, which is one of the many charms of her story. Dylan immediately likes Kady and he's happy he's at the convention with his mother because he wants to spend time with her. He's a real gentleman and I loved the way he treats the important women in his life. He and Kady have great chemistry and I could easily picture them as a couple. I like it when characters have something special together and that's definitely the case in this story.
The Bridal Bouquet isn't only a cute and lovely story, there's also some adventure. Dylan is on a case and somehow his personal and business life are intertwined. Tara Randel writes about the emotional side of his work as well as the practical one and I liked that angle. I loved that he also has a connection to the flower business and his reason to be at the convention is fun. The Bridal Bouquet is a quick and easy read and it's very enjoyable. I think it's an amazing read with a heartwarming theme.
