Jill can't remember not being in love with Sawyer. Ever since they were children she looked up to her brother Jack's best friend. Jack has made perfectly clear that his sister is off-limits, so Sawyer isn't supposed to think about her in a romantic way. Jill wants to change his feelings for her and decides that instead of the tomboy cop she usually is she now will be a sexy cop, someone Sawyer has to notice. It's time for a confession, so she can finally find out if her longtime crush will actually like her back.
Sawyer has a reputation. Everyone sees him as a player, a man who will never settle down. The one time he loved someone he almost lost the most important people in his life and Sawyer isn't prepared to go there again. Jill isn't easy to stay away from though. Maybe it's time for Sawyer to start making plans for the future. Only will anyone believe him if he says he's ready for a serious relationship and if he'll have one, will it be with Jill? There are plenty of women who would like to marry Sawyer. Will he and Jill have a chance to be happy together or is there really just friendship between them?
Happy Ever After in Christmas is a heartwarming romantic story. Jill is tough and she can stand up for herself. She's a cop and she's good at what she does. She can protect herself and is looking out for others all the time. I loved that side of her. She's also someone who loves deeply and unconditionally. She's a wonderful person and that made it easy to sympathize with her and to love her story.
Sawyer is gorgeous and he's sweet. He's always there for the people who need him. He even makes promises that aren't good for his own happiness to protect others. He's generous and chivalrous, which is a great combination. He's just as easy to like as Jill and I enjoyed reading about them. They have such good chemistry and I couldn't wait to see if they would get their happy ending. I adored their protective instincts and loved seeing the things they are prepared to do for each other over and over again.
Debbie Mason's writing is warm and friendly. I liked everything about Happy Ever After in Christmas. The descriptions of the town and its inhabitants are delightful, the atmosphere is brilliant and there's so much kindness and respect. I'm a big fan of small town romances and the Christmas Colorado series is amazing. The books can be read as standalones, but I would recommend you to read them all because they are so lovely. Debbie Mason's charming stories always manage to put a smile on my face.
