Chasing Eva by Camellia Hart

Review by Anniek

Evangeline Avery, or Eva for short, has taken over her father's business after his death. This wasn't the career path she had set out for herself, but she's determined to fill her father's shoes. Her interior design firm has always been the best of the best. It's a disaster when Eva learns that her biggest long-term client wants to switch companies. She has to do anything in her power to stop that from happening, or she should find new clients fast.

Clive Stanton is a very powerful and successful businessman. He's used to getting what he wants, when he wants it. Clive doesn't do love or anything that comes even close to it. Every time his face shows up in a magazine, he always has a different woman on his arm. When he steps out of an elevator he sees Eva and her friends. Clive thinks he recognizes Eva from a long time ago but he isn't sure.

Clive and Eva met during their teenage years, at a party. Clive fell in love with her and they shared their first kiss. After that party he never saw Eva again, but he never forgot about her. Now that she is back in his life Clive isn't willing to let her slip away again. Will they be able to put their scars in the past and choose the love they feel for each other?

Eva is a woman that lots of people would admire. She is beautiful, kind and loyal. She is also not afraid to fight for what she wants. Eva is smart and she's a fast thinker. I am always happy when I'm reading a book about a strong female character. Clive is gorgeous, he's former military and FBI, and for that alone my heart missed a couple of beats. I fell in love with him immediately when I read about how sweet and caring he actually is.

Camellia Hart is a new author and Chasing Eva is her debut novel. The only thing I can think of is that she really should have started writing sooner or that her work should have been published years ago. Chasing Eva is a fun and sweet story. I read this is one sitting, because I didn't wanted to put it down. Chasing Eva is book one in a series of three. On Camellia's website you can see that book two and three are coming soon. I absolutely can't wait to keep on reading and find out what happens next.

  7. Chasing Eva sounds like the perfect book for me! A romance with a strong, independent woman and a handome playboy who doesn't do 'love' but never forgot that one girl who made his heart beat faster (swoon). I'd love to read this one. Great review!
