About James Lecesne
For over 25 years I've been telling stories. Whether I'm writing, acting, producing or trying to create social change, it's usually the story that got me involved. But in the process of getting things done and trying to make the world a better place, I've also been telling the story of my life. This website is my best effort to provide the general gist. But my hope is that you find something here that will inspire you to live your life more fully and continue to tell your story.

Review by Suze
Phoebe lives in a three bedroom house with her mother and older sister Deirdre. Her mother has a hair salon and Phoebe often works there, her life is that of a normal teenage girl. That changes when Leonard moves in with them. He's an orphan and used to live with Phoebe's uncle, but he has a project abroad and Leonard needs somewhere to stay. Leonard is eccentric and he doesn't care about what people think of him. He dresses the way he likes and he's completely himself. He has fun working at the salon and enjoys giving people makeovers. Because of who he is people love him, but not everyone likes his explicit personality.
Even though Phoebe doesn't always know how to handle Leonard's weirdness she slowly starts to like him. The new living situation might not be so bad, only then he goes missing. It quickly becomes obvious how many friends Leonard has made in his short stay with Phoebe's family. He was a ray of sunshine in a lot of people's lives. What happened to him and why would someone do that to such a special person?
Absolute Brightness is a book about a boy who shines so bright that he influences people and makes their every day existence more colorful and enjoyable. I loved Leonard from the start. He's a beautiful person, both on the inside and the outside. The story is being told from Phoebe's point of view. She's an honest narrator and she can sometimes be quite crude, which I found refreshing. She paints a clear picture of Leonard by describing both his character and his looks in detail. I love how she slowly warms to him. Eventually she shows the reader she has a fantastic big heart herself, which was the best part of the story for me.
Absolute Brightness is a gripping story. Finding out what happened to Leonard when he disappeared brought tears to my eyes. James Lecesne's vivid writing makes the story come to life very well. I could easily picture the salon, the customers and of course the main characters and it almost felt like I was part of their circle. I loved this moving and interesting story about love, compassion, the debate of good versus evil and self-knowledge and highly recommend it.
