Amanda needs a change and she moves from London to the stunning Westfield. Swapping her busy city life for the beautiful, calmer countryside is a big step, but Amanda's happy she's taken it because she can finally do what she loves. She opens a shop and makes her own items. The only downside is that owner of the business next door, Ben, isn't as welcoming as she expected. He doesn't want anyone from the city to mess up his treasured village life.
When Agatha takes Amanda under her wing she soon makes friends with the ladies of Westfield. Agatha makes sure Amanda's feeling welcome in the village and she includes her in many exciting projects. There's one plan she isn't sharing with her though, she'd like Amanda and Ben to become friends and she tries to help them in many different ways. Only will that work after their awful start?
The Chic Boutique on Baker Street is such a wonderful story. Westfield is a fabulous village with interesting inhabitants. Rachel Dove's vivid descriptions of everything that's going on made me feel right at home. I loved the cozy atmosphere and enjoyed the friendliness of this story very much. Amanda is such a kind person. Her good nature sometimes makes things difficult for her though, but nobody can make her change who she is, which is an admirable quality. Ben has a warm personality, but life hasn't always been kind to him. What he's been through left a few nasty scars. He's generous with his time and attention and he's really sympathetic. Both Ben and Amanda are a bit stubborn and they don't open up so easily which leads to a lot of misunderstandings. It was both fun and frustrating to read about them at the same time. I liked that effect a lot.
The Chic Boutique on Baker Street put a smile on my face. It's a lovely and sweet book. Westfield is the perfect setting for a romantic story and I enjoyed reading Rachel Dove's light and easy writing style. She also has a great sense of humor. The protective and mothering meddling ladies made me laugh out loud several times. I loved this fabulous heartwarming story.
