Broken Pieces & Pieced Together by Kelly Moore - Review, Interview & Giveaway

 About Kelly Moore

Hi my name is Kelly Moore and I am Southern girl raised in Florida. I am a registered nurse actually an ICU traveling nurse, wife, mother of two children and I have three grandchildren. I have always been an avid reader and kept journals. Until Broken Pieces, I never had the courage to attempt an erotic romance book and submit it for publishing. I tend to embrace the brokenness in all of us. It makes us who we are. I love to see people come out strong and win against past pains.

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing the story.

Interview

1. Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I grew up in a small town in the middle of Florida. I married in 1985 and now have been married over 30 years. In 2004, I graduated from nursing school while raising two very active teenagers. Now they are both grown and I have 3 beautiful grandchildren. Yes, I am way too young at 29 to be a grandparent, just in case you were going to mention it. LOL

2. You are a traveling nurse. Can you tell us how you manage
to mix this with your personal life?

I love being a traveling nurse. I have gotten to see places that most people only dream of all while getting to help care for other people. Being an ICU nurse has given me the privilege and the burden of helping patients and families at their darkest hours. This has taught me that life is too short to not enjoy the time we have here on earth and life truly needs to be lived to the fullest. I have made friends all over the world and I cherish all the memories that I have made.

3. What does a typical week look like for you?

I work in a hospital setting three times a week, 12 hours shifts or longer. I take at least a day just to play. I attempt to write a couple days a week. For relaxation, I delve into a good book. I love to read and write especially when I am not traveling, because it takes my mind on a journey.

4. In Broken Pieces and Pieced Together you write about
very traumatic experiences. How did you come up with these
story lines?

My life has been far from perfect and I suffered several types of abuse growing up, so some of it was not a far stretch. I have never shared my story, but I am getting a new and improved website up and running shortly and I will be getting into the blogging scene and I will share my story there.

5. I love it that you support bloggers and other writers on your own blog. How did you start out with writing yourself?

I support other writes as much as possible. I think this is how we all become successful, by helping each other. I start journaling as a means of escape as a young child. What started as a release turned into something that I love to do. I have written for years, but never attempted to have anything published until Broken Pieces. I like every other writer have tons of stories in my head and they need to be shared.

6. What do you like the most about your work as a nurse and as a writer?

As a nurse, I love being an advocate for patients and families. Teaching them is one of my favorite things. Getting them to know they have a voice in their own care is a victory in their health. As a writer, I get lost for an entire day in creating voices for my characters. I get to not think about the hard part of being a nurse and I can create any happy ending that I want to. I love giving a voice to characters that struggle or come from traumatic experiences and to see them grow into the people they were meant to be despite their pasts.

7. Brogan one of your main characters is a nurse as well. Are there more personal things you have put into your story?

Yes, there are several things in the story that are parts of my life. It’s funny my daughter says she can’t read it because she sees so many parts of me in the story, so when she gets to the sex scenes, she has to close the book. I am very sarcastic like Brogan is in the book and I definitely “do not share my ice cream.”

8. If you could change one thing in this world what would that be?

I would change the hatred that has grown in our world.

9. What is the most impressive book you have read this year?

Blackbird Summer by Em Shotwell. It is a paranormal romance book, which is typically not my type of read, but I fell in love with her writing style. When I grow up I want to write just like her. My writing will never compare to the words she puts on paper. I highly recommend her book and I can’t wait for her next book to come out.

10. If you could plan a family weekend and do anything you want what would you all be doing?

We would be hiking some canyon and stopping to camp by a crystal blue lake that most people have never seen.

11. Can you tell us your plans for the future?

I plan on being a successful author at least that is what I keep telling myself. I want to travel a few more places before I settle down in one place. The gypsy in me makes it hard to be in one place for too long. Each place I have been gives me inspirations for my books.

Brogan has been traumatized in her past. Ever since that time she hasn't let anybody come close to her except her best friend and her brother. She lives in a small town and just keeps to herself. One night she goes to a town celebration and there she meets Kyren. He is everything she wants in a man, but Brogan doesn’t want a relationship.

Kyren is mesmerized when he sees Brogan. He knows immediately that she is someone he wants to get close to. Their meeting ends with him crumpled on the floor and Brogan running for the hills. A small town has its advantages and he finds her in no time.

When Kyren and Brogan can’t deny their attraction to one another and grow closer together old demons resurface. Both of them have their own hurt and guilt to work through, but will they manage to work through it together?

In Broken Pieces Kelly Moore writes about how Brogan and Kyren got their scars. You really get to know the characters and it is very easy to connect with them. I could actually feel their pain and sorrow. Pieced Together is about their lives three years later. A lot has happened in the meantime and their story continues.

Brogan and Kyren's connection is really beautiful. There are some dark events in their pasts which leave them both traumatized. Kelly Moore writes about them with a lot of respect and dignity and I liked her sensitivity. I equally loved both books and think you don't want to miss these two amazing stories.

    1. Just keep writing everyday. Everyone has a story to tell and the stories we share touch people's lives, even if it is fiction. It might be someone else's reality. So tell your story.
