Dulili needs more people which is why the residents are offering houses for just $1 per week to attract newcomers. They also make sure there are jobs available for the new inhabitants. Lachlan is looking for a place to settle. He's never had the chance to live anywhere for a long period of time. He's ready for a change, an opportunity to have a real future. Alicia has just opened a shop in Dulili. It's the only dream she has left after losing her fiancé. She needs someone to help her with the work and Lachlan is the right person for the job. They soon become good friends, really good friends...
The Healing Season is a beautiful story about two young people who haven't had easy lives. Lachlan comes from a difficult background and wants to be free of it for good. Alicia has lost a lot and she doesn't know how to get through the days without the support of her fiancé. They're both strong and are fighting for a better future. I liked that about them. They could definitely use a break, some kindness and a lot of happiness. They're wonderful main characters and I enjoyed reading about their daily routine and their blossoming friendship.
Dulili is a great setting. I loved seeing it through different eyes once more. It's another fantastic A Dollar for a Dream, three stories set in Dulili by three different authors, read. I think this series is amazing and highly recommend it. I'm a big fan of the idea. Catherine Evans is a great writer. She makes Dulili feel like the ideal hometown. Her story is warm and welcoming and she writes with compassion and kindness. I loved how she describes the village life and it was fun to read about the shop and all the customers. Her writing has an easy flow and I look forward to reading more of her work.
