  9. It's not very well known but Tom Robbins' Jitterbug Perfume is a wonderful adventure bringing the reader from Babylonia to Paris and beyond with magic & voodoo chucked in. It's sensual, fragrant and surprisingly different.

  14. I always recommend Neil Gaiman! He's pretty popular but I still find lots of avid readers who have never read any of his books! They are all so good!
